Formerly a farm, the Sheppard Family Park offers 13 acres of treed wilderness where visitors can go to enjoy an afternoon outdoors and have a picnic. A number of historic buildings can be viewed at the park including a restored log cabin built in 1882 and the Billy MacDougall House which was constructed in 1899 and was the first home built in town. There is also a gift shop onsite selling antiques, vintage items, arts and crafts and more.
George Lane Park has been a popular gathering spot in High River since 1912. Located in the centre of downtown, the park features amenities such as a band shell, a ball diamond, a concession stand, a playground, horseshoe pits, a picnic area with BBQs and a cooking shelter, washrooms and camping facilities.
